Michele D. Anderson is a pastoral counselor, master-certified coach, speaker, and the founder of The Identity Collective™, a faith-based organization dedicated to equipping individuals, families, churches, and communities through identity-centered growth, counseling, and discipleship programs. Through initiatives such as The Identity Project™ and The Family Project™, Michele is passionate about helping people discover their identity, purpose, and calling while building healthier relationships and stronger families.
Michele D. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science in Religion and Theological Studies with a minor in Christian Counseling, along with a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University. Her background combines biblical studies, counseling, coaching, leadership development, and ministry-focused care to support individuals and families through life’s challenges and personal growth.
Her graduate work focused heavily on family systems, marriage and parenting dynamics, adolescent development, identity formation, and faith-based counseling approaches. She is also pursuing national pastoral counseling licensure and has completed advanced training in coaching, suicide prevention, and marriage enrichment.
In addition to counseling individuals, couples, adolescents, and families, Michele develops and facilitates group-based programs designed to proactively strengthen identity, relationships, emotional health, and spiritual growth before crisis occurs. Her heart is to partner with churches, schools, and ministry leaders to create environments where people are equipped—not just to survive—but to thrive in every stage of life.
Before transitioning into counseling and ministry, Michele spent many years building a successful career in Human Resources, staffing, and recruitment. That experience gave her a deep understanding of people, leadership, workplace dynamics, communication, and personal development—skills that continue to shape her counseling and coaching approach today.
Michele is committed to serving others through counseling, coaching, teaching, and leadership development with authenticity, wisdom, and grace. She believes that understanding who we are in Christ changes the trajectory of individuals, marriages, families, and future generations.
Michele and her husband, Ted, have been married for more than 35 years and are the proud parents of four children and grandparents to four beautiful granddaughters. As California natives they have called Tennessee home for more than 30 years and deeply love the beauty, community, and changing seasons the state offers—especially the Fall, which Michele describes as the most beautiful time of year. Together, Michele and Ted enjoy traveling throughout the United States, exploring American history and visiting historical landmarks and sites across the country. They also enjoy spending time with family, playing Mah Jong, and loving on their two dogs, Teddy, a Golden Retriever, and Rayna, a German Shepherd.
Conversion Story
My life changed when I came to understand that Christianity was not simply about religion, rules, or appearances—it was about a real relationship with Jesus Christ. For much of my life, I carried wounds, questions, insecurities, and a longing to understand who I truly was and why I was here. Like many people, I searched for identity and purpose in things that could never fully satisfy.
Over time, God began to reveal that my worth was not found in performance, approval, success, or the opinions of others, but in Him alone. Through seasons of brokenness, growth, healing, and surrender, I experienced the faithfulness of God in a deeply personal way. The more I pursued Him, the more I realized that true freedom begins when we understand our identity through the lens of Christ instead of the world.
That journey not only transformed my own life but also gave birth to a passion to help others discover the same truth. What began as personal healing eventually became a calling into ministry, counseling, coaching, and leadership development. God placed a burden on my heart for individuals, marriages, families, adolescents, and churches struggling with confusion, disconnection, anxiety, broken relationships, and identity issues.
Today, through counseling and through the work of The Identity Collective™, including The Identity Project™ and The Family Project™, my desire is to help others experience healing, clarity, purpose, and restoration by understanding who they are in Christ. I believe that when identity is established in truth, lives and generations can be transformed.
